SUMMER THEN HERE

Summer Then Here is a suspended installation of double sided collages made within transparent plexiglass. The collection tells the stories of ten first summers lived in Flagstaff, Arizona, as well as the shared landscape that emerges through collective memory.  Relocation narratives span a variety of ages and origins, ranging from 1993 – 2019, as heard in the accompanying audio collage. We are each a protagonist as we recollect, carrying our own tiny sorrows, nooks of uncertainty, mirth flurries, objects in color, details of bewilderment, clarity, tenderness.  Place becomes a repeated character, constant and mutually experienced, alongside our spectrum of entryways into somewhere new.
